Budapest police officers commended for emergency interventions

Budapest police officers have been commended for two separate instances of public assistance. On the evening of August 31, officers Attila Sörös and Dániel Hartenstein prevented a suicide attempt on the Margit Bridge. The officers intervened physically to prevent a young man from jumping into the Danube and spent approximately ten minutes using verbal persuasion to convince him to accept help and move to safety.

In a separate incident on the night of September 4, officers from the Kiskunhalas unit of the Readiness Police assisted a woman who had lost her mobile phone in a taxi near Nyugati Railway Station. After helping the woman locate the device via iCloud, the officers drove toward the airport to retrieve the phone and returned the woman to her starting point. The woman expressed her gratitude in a letter to the police, praising the officers' selfless and helpful conduct.
