Budapest Police Remove Death‑Reaper Video Warning Helmetless E‑Scooter Riders

The Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) withdrew an animated safety video that showed a death‑reaper figure with a scythe hunting down e‑scooter riders who were not wearing helmets. The short film was intended to highlight the risk of severe head injuries, which account for a large share of scooter‑related accidents, and to encourage helmet use.

After the video was posted, police officials said the graphic style was inappropriate and removed it from all official channels within hours. In a statement they reiterated the call for riders to wear protective helmets, noting that “the challenge is real, so we ask everyone to wear a helmet when riding a scooter.” The incident follows earlier local campaigns that used striking imagery to promote road‑safety rules for electric scooters.
