Budapest police rescue man from Margit Bridge railing

On the evening of August 15, police and emergency responders successfully prevented a young man from jumping from the Margit Bridge in Budapest. Upon arriving at the scene, officers from the 13th district encountered a man who had climbed onto the bridge railing and refused to let anyone approach him.

For over 30 minutes, officers engaged in continuous dialogue to build trust, explaining every movement to avoid causing alarm. Once they had moved close enough, officers Gábor Gráner and Vivien Horváth, assisted by paramedic driver Ferenc Demeter and officer Viktor Gáspár, managed to grab the man and pull him back to safety.

The man was examined by paramedics and subsequently transported to a hospital. The Budapest Police Headquarters (BRFK) released a video of the incident and advised bystanders to maintain distance during such interventions to allow responders to work effectively.
