Budapest protesters demonstrate against high energy bills

Protesters gathered at Kossuth Square in Budapest to demonstrate against high energy bills and issues regarding utility billing. The demonstration was organized by the Hallassuk a Hangunkat Szövetségesei (HHSZ) association, along with members of the MVM community and other individuals affected by utility costs.

During the event, organizers submitted a petition and a legislative amendment proposal to a representative of the Ministry of Economy and Energy. HHSZ President Andrea Máténé Szöllősi stated that the protest was not intended to be anti-government, but rather to highlight issues affecting all households regardless of political affiliation. Key concerns raised included inconsistent usage fees, malfunctioning meters, and problems with solar energy feed-in systems.

The organizers emphasized the need for transparency in energy billing and called for government assistance to help families facing financial hardship or freezing conditions as winter approaches.
