Budapest receives 30 billion HUF after government deduction
The Budapest municipality has received a 30 billion forint state subsidy following a government agreement. While the initial promised amount was 120 billion forints, the government deducted a 90 billion forint solidarity contribution for the current year.
Ambrus Kiss, Director General of the Mayor's Office, stated that the arrival of these funds will lead to the termination of ongoing lawsuits regarding the scale of the solidarity contribution. He noted that based on previous Constitutional Court decisions, the solidarity contribution system must be established on new foundations.
The funds are expected to fluctuate in the coming period due to incoming local business tax revenues and scheduled payments. Additionally, the Budapest City Assembly is set to discuss the transformation of the Budapest Transport Centre (BKK) into a regional, state-partnered transport organizer. The assembly will also consider legislative proposals related to heatwaves and the energy crisis, as well as the ongoing vacancy of the deputy mayor position.
