Budapest runs historic trams, buses and trolleys throughout June

Budapest’s public‑transport operator BKK confirmed that a fleet of historic vehicles will run on a weekly basis during June. Vintage trams will serve the riverside N2 line on Saturdays, including the BVVV L model first built in 1913, while the restored 1908 tram will operate on the N19 line on Sundays. A unique Ikarus convertible bus, originally produced over 50 years ago and refurbished in 2017, will run on the N109 route on Saturdays.

Additional nostalgic services include classic wooden‑frame trams on the N38 route, the 1820‑type tram‑motorcar, and historic trolleybuses such as the Ikarus 60 and 60T, each limited to 21 seated passengers. The Museum Night event will feature the N36 tram along the Keleti railway station corridor. Tickets are sold on‑site, and the special vehicles stop at every station along their routes.

These operations showcase Budapest’s transport heritage, offering residents and visitors an opportunity to experience the city’s early‑20th‑century street‑car era during the month of June.
