Budapest to host inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship

Budapest will host the inaugural World Athletics Ultimate Championship from September 11 to 13, 2026, at the National Athletics Centre. This new institution by World Athletics aims to gather the world’s top champions in a single, three-day event featuring 26 disciplines.

Participation is restricted to elite athletes, including 2024 Paris Olympians, 2025 world champions, Diamond League finalists, or top-ranked competitors. High-profile athletes such as pole vault world record holder Armand Duplantis, sprinter Noah Lyles, and Sha’Carri Richardson have already confirmed their presence. The competition features a total prize pool of $10 million, with $150,000 awarded to each event winner.

Mondo has been named the Official Global Supplier of athletics equipment for the event. The company will provide customized technical elements, including hurdles, high jump and pole vault landing systems, and athlete benches with LED screens, all designed to integrate with the championship’s unique visual identity and broadcast production.
