Budapest XIII District to develop 3.6-hectare park on Danube riverfront
The XIII District Municipality in Budapest has announced plans to develop a new 3.6-hectare public park along the Danube riverfront near Népfürdő Street. The project aims to increase green space by planting new trees and vegetation across nine different plots.
The development area spans from the E.ON sports complex south to Dráva Street, covering the strip between Népfürdő Street and the Danube. The site includes municipal land, public parkland, a city-owned road, and a 14,000-square-meter area currently owned by E.ON, which will be transferred to the municipality for operation.
Starting September 15, local residents are invited to participate in a consultation process to suggest desired functions for the park. Following this, experts will develop a conceptual plan based on public input, which will then be presented to the community again for further feedback. Parts of the park are expected to be completed by late 2028 or early 2029.
