Budapest–Curtici rail traffic suspended after train derailment in Hungary
Railway traffic on the Budapest–Curtici route has been temporarily suspended following a rolling stock derailment in Hungary on the evening of September 28, 2026. The incident occurred in an area managed by the Hungarian railway company MÁV Start.
CFR Călători has confirmed that international trains IR 473 and IR 347, destined for Bucharest, will experience delays. At this time, the exact duration of the delays or the possibility of cancellations remains unknown, as operators await further updates from the Hungarian administration.
To mitigate the impact within Romania, CFR Călători stated it will attempt to maintain service using its own reserve fleet of wagons, depending on the operational situation.
