Budapest's 15th District wins court case against Treasury over solidarity contribution

The Budapest Metropolitan Court has annulled a decision by the Hungarian State Treasury (MÁK) regarding a solidarity contribution levied against the city's 15th District. The court ruled that the Treasury's decision to impose more than 3 billion forints on the district for 2024 was unlawful.

The court invalidated the collection orders for the period of January to December 2024 and ordered the Treasury to refund the amounts collected through unlawful collection procedures, along with legal interest. The 15th District had argued that the Treasury collected the funds throughout the year without a prior official decision and failed to ensure the right to a fair administrative procedure, citing Constitutional Court precedents.
