Budapest’s Andrássy Avenue Showcases Historic Architecture and Summer Flowers

Andrássy Avenue, Budapest’s grand historic boulevard, is celebrated not only for its palatial facades but also for the vibrant flower beds that line its wide sidewalks. Visitors who stroll the avenue on a sunny day can see a variety of plants—geraniums, honeysuckle, sunflowers and notable trees—nestled between the ornate façades and the classic street lamps. The street, originally paved with wooden blocks to protect horses, was designed as a showcase rather than a major traffic route, and its wide trams and pedestrian paths still echo the Paris‑inspired design.
