Budaörs municipality disputes school facility management by Érdi Tankerületi Központ

The Érdi Tankerületi Központ is facing criticism in Budaörs for allegedly violating existing agreements regarding the management of local school buildings. According to local claims, the center has unilaterally restricted the municipality's ability to use school facilities for community, cultural, and sporting events outside of instructional hours.

Under the asset management contract established after the state took control of the school buildings in 2017, the municipality was permitted to use these spaces free of charge for local organizations and civil groups. Revenue generated from these uses was previously directed to school foundations to supplement limited state funding and maintain educational standards.

Furthermore, the municipality alleges that the center has failed to meet its legal obligation to invest at least 2 percent of the annual property value into maintenance and renovations, resulting in estimated damages of billions of forints to the city.
