Buddha Air begins commercial operations with new ATR72-600

Buddha Air has commenced commercial operations with its new ATR72-600 aircraft. The aircraft, registered as 9N-AOS, completed its inaugural commercial flight from Kathmandu to Nepalgunj on Friday morning, carrying 66 passengers.

The aircraft was transported to Nepal from Toulouse, France, in July 2026 and underwent a month of technical procedures, regulatory checks, and repainting. The new series features a glass cockpit, modern navigation systems, digital flight management, and advanced safety features. It is designed for regional flights with improved fuel efficiency, larger passenger seats, increased overhead bin space, and reduced cabin noise.

Buddha Air currently operates 14 ATR72-500 aircraft and plans to add another ATR72-600 to its fleet in the near future. The airline manages more than 140 domestic flights and landings daily.
