Budimiri residents protest Brda–Umovi wind farm project

Residents of Budimiri are expressing significant concern regarding the infrastructure planned for the Brda–Umovi wind farm project, particularly in the Lazine area. New land registry data shows an easement of 8,041 square meters has been recorded for the company VJETROPARK BRDA UMOVI d. o. o. to facilitate the construction and maintenance of the energy system, which includes access roads, a medium-voltage cable network, a transformer station, and a double 110 kV power line.

Local families state that the affected area consists of private plots held for generations. Residents are demanding transparency regarding the exact location of infrastructure, such as power poles and roads, and their proximity to residential homes.

Beyond land rights, there is serious concern regarding the potential impact on cultural and archaeological heritage. Locals claim that 'stećci' (medieval tombstones) and other ancient stone remains are located in or near the Lazine site. They are calling for authorities and the Ministry of Culture and Media to conduct professional field assessments to determine if these historical sites fall within the planned infrastructure corridor.
