Budva Municipality investigation into 7.1 million euro building purchase

The Special State Prosecutor's Office (SDT) has launched an investigation into the Municipality of Budva regarding the purchase of a dilapidated building formerly owned by Jugoslovensko rječno brodarstvo (JRB). The municipality acquired the 815-square-meter building for 7.1 million euros, a transaction that reportedly excluded the surrounding 5,454 square meters of land.

The investigation follows a criminal complaint filed in June by Đorđe Zenović, a member of the Budva parliament and leader of the ‘Pokret za grad’ movement. The complaint alleges that the purchase caused multi-million euro damages to the city budget. The investigation is looking into potential crimes including abuse of official position, falsification of official documents, and organized fraud.

The legal proceedings involve the bankruptcy administrator of ‘Vektra Montenegro’, the property appraiser, and several other unnamed individuals. Prosecutor Ana Perović Vojinović is leading the inquiry to gather evidence and determine further legal actions.
