Buenos Aires 9K Independence Day run forms record Argentine human flag as Monte Caseros holds first solidarity 7K
On July 9, Buenos Aires organized the 9K de la Independencia, drawing about 6,000 runners. Participants wore light‑blue or white shirts to create a 250‑metre human Argentine flag—the largest of its kind in the country—at the start line in the Bosques de Palermo. The event also featured a 3‑kilometre fun run, live music, gaucho performances, medals, and complimentary churros, with top athletes such as Nélida Peñaflor and Juan Dutari competing.
Earlier, Monte Caseros in Corrientes Province held the inaugural Carrera Solidaria 7K as part of the 216th anniversary of the Argentine Naval Prefecture on June 30. The free race required participants to bring school supplies or cleaning items for the local School No. 89. Municipal sports secretary Fernando Taborda and Prefecture delegate Patricio La Cava highlighted the initiative’s goals of promoting health, community involvement, and support for the school. The event concluded with certificates, prizes for the top finishers, and a display of camaraderie as runners escorted the final participant to the finish line.
