Buenos Aires and Bogotá schools grapple with student harassment

In Buenos Aires, three complaints were filed after minors at the prestigious Carlos Pellegrini high school used artificial‑intelligence tools to create and sell altered nude images of classmates. The cases have been referred to the city's specialized cyber‑crime prosecutor's office, prompting calls for school‑wide counseling, parental involvement and legal measures beyond expulsions.

In Bogotá, videos captured members of a group calling themselves “Soldados de Cristo” approaching pupils at the Instituto Técnico Rodrigo de Triana, detaining them, touching them and distributing religious material. Teachers intervened, leading to verbal confrontations. The Interior Ministry rejected accusations of harassment, emphasizing religious freedom while urging respect for children’s rights. Local education authorities plan visits to the school to assess safety.

Both incidents highlight emerging forms of abuse targeting adolescents in South American schools, prompting debate over protective policies, the role of law enforcement and the need for educational interventions.
