Buenos Aires announces urban infrastructure and AI transit projects

The City of Buenos Aires is moving forward with two distinct urban development initiatives. First, a plan for underground parking lots in public plazas has entered the bidding and execution stage. Driven by private initiative from E-ARG and designed by Urgell Penedo Urgell, the project aims to alleviate traffic congestion by moving vehicles underground. This will free up surface space for green areas, pedestrian walkways, and community centers. Key locations include Parque España in Barracas, Espacio Lavardén in Parque Patricios, Plaza de la Innovación in Núñez, and Plaza Noruega in Belgrano.

Separately, Subterráneos de Buenos Aires (SBA) has launched a private tender to implement AI-powered holographic avatars within the subway network. The project involves installing six 3D photorealistic digital totems at Leandro N. Alem and Juan Manuel de Rosas stations on Line B. These devices will allow real-time, bidirectional interaction with passengers to provide institutional information, network guidance, and citizen assistance. The contract, valued at nearly half a million dollars, includes a 15-month execution period for the installation and maintenance of the immersive experience system.
