Buenos Aires Basin Municipalities Coordinate Flood Mitigation Measures
Representatives from the municipalities that make up the Arroyo San Francisco‑Las Piedras basin met in Almirante Brown to coordinate actions aimed at preventing and mitigating flood damage ahead of forecasted storms. The meeting, led by Mariano Cascallares, brought together technical teams and officials from Avellaneda, Florencio Varela, Lanús and Almirante Brown, as well as provincial ministries of Infrastructure and Public Services, Environment and Security, the Water Authority (ADA) and the Basin Committee.
Participants reviewed weather forecasts, discussed the regional scenario, and reinforced provincial efforts to finance strategic water works to improve basin functionality. An agenda was set for maintaining hydraulic infrastructure, integrated waste management, continuous basin monitoring and updating contingency plans, with a follow‑up meeting planned within two months.
