Transport disruptions hit Buenos Aires trains and Requínoa restores rail service

In Argentina, major train lines in the Buenos Aires Metropolitan Area (AMBA), including the Roca, Mitre, and Sarmiento lines, experienced significant delays and cancellations on Monday. Trenes Argentinos attributed the disruptions to the implementation of a new digital protocol for alcohol and substance testing of drivers and conductors. The transition from physical forms to digital tablets caused operational difficulties and connectivity issues, impacting thousands of commuters during morning rush hour.

Separately in Argentina, the CNRT intervened in Corrientes to stop a bus transporting 13 minors to Santa Fe because the vehicle lacked mandatory technical inspections and a tachograph, and the driver lacked a valid license. In Chubut, authorities conducted extensive road safety operations, inspecting over 7,000 vehicles and removing 40 intoxicated drivers from the roads.

In Chile, the commune of Requínoa has restored daily passenger train services after a ten-year hiatus. The service now includes 14 daily trips from Monday to Friday, connecting residents to the San Fernando–Rancagua–Estación Central network.
