Buenos Aires finishes upgrades in 12 schools as Argentine school renovation wave continues
The Buenos Aires City Government completed infrastructure works in twelve public schools across nine comunas during June and July. Renovations covered painting, façade restoration, waterproofing, electrical, sanitary, gas, fire‑protection and climate‑system upgrades, as well as new laboratories, sports areas, accessibility improvements and the creation of a new laboratory space. The works benefitted schools in comunas 3, 5, 6, 8, 10, 11, 12, 13 and 15, and are part of a city‑wide programme that has logged more than 6,000 interventions since the current administration began.
Three additional schools in the Balvanera, San Cristóbal and Boedo neighbourhoods also received similar upgrades, including comprehensive refurbishment of classrooms, roofs, utilities and the addition of a dedicated sports area and a new laboratory.
In the Province of Mendoza, Governor Alfredo Cornejo visited the Palmira sports complex, a new multi‑sport facility financed by the National Educational Financing Law and to be shared by the Directorate General of Schools and the San Martín Municipality. The complex will feature a covered arena for 1,130 people, an eight‑lane athletics track, a football field, three sports courts, a gym, boxing rings, a multipurpose hall for 600, and seating for over 3,000 spectators.
Other projects include a new three‑storey building for Escuela Secundaria N° 120 in La Matanza, an expansion of Escuela Secundaria N° 82, and renovations at Jardín de Infantes N° 1006. In Sierras Bayas, the SUM of Secundaria N° 2 is being rebuilt with a new metal roof, reinforced concrete structure and upgraded electrical and interior works, inspected by Mayor Maximiliano Wesner.
