Buenos Aires Governor Kicillof Announces Completion of Water and Sewer Projects in Mercedes
Governor Axel Kicillof toured the ongoing works of the Comité de Cuenca del Río Luján (ComiLu) in the province of Buenos Aires, highlighting recent infrastructure improvements in the city of Mercedes. He noted the inauguration of a new ambulance, the opening of a CAPS health center, and historic hydraulic works that have reduced flood‑related difficulties, cutting the number of affected residents from about 3,500 in previous events to roughly 350 this time.
Kicillof explained that the sewer and water system, originally designed for a population of 50,000, is now serving a rapidly growing Mercedes. While the national government has halted some projects, such as the Avenida San Martín, the province and the municipal mayor intend to complete these works to improve living conditions for residents.
