Buenos Aires implements exclusive lanes on Avenida Rivadavia
The Government of the City of Buenos Aires has activated two new exclusive lanes for public transport on Avenida Rivadavia. The intervention spans ten blocks between the Yatay/Muñiz and Hidalgo/Ángel Giménez sections, affecting the Almagro and Caballito neighborhoods.
This reconfiguration is a preparatory step for the launch of TramBus, a high-capacity electric vehicle system scheduled to begin operations in December. The new lanes prioritize 13 bus lines and form part of the T1 line within a 22-kilometer corridor project managed by the Ministry of Furniture and Infrastructure.
To manage traffic, continuous red lines have been established to restrict private vehicle access 24 hours a day. Drivers may only enter the exclusive lanes at specific intersections with permitted right turns, such as the corners of Campichuelo and Acoyte avenues, by using dotted line signaling.
