Buenos Aires inaugurates microforest to honor organ donors
In Buenos Aires, officials and families have inaugurated the ‘Microbosque de la Vida’ (Microforest of Life), a 55-square-meter space featuring 240 native trees. The project serves as a tribute to organ donors and their families, symbolizing legacy and continuity.
Utilizing the Miyawaki technique for rapid urban forest development, the initiative was a collaborative effort between the City’s Undersecretariat of Environment, the Ministry of Health, the City Transplantation Institute, and Commune 6. The planting includes 14 native species, such as Fumo bravo and Salvia guaranítica, aimed at enhancing local biodiversity and urban green infrastructure.
The ceremony included participation from various city officials and donor families, including the Trivisonno family, who planted the first tree to honor their daughter, María Antonella, who passed away in 1999.
