Buenos Aires intensifies fight against illegal dentistry

The College of Dentists of the Province of Buenos Aires has strengthened its efforts to detect and prosecute the illegal practice of dentistry. Through a coordinated strategy involving ten districts, the institution is implementing a workflow that includes receiving complaints, conducting field investigations, and pursuing administrative and judicial actions against individuals practicing without professional registration.

To support these efforts, the College has established an agreement with the General Procuration of the Supreme Court of Justice of Buenos Aires. This partnership aims to develop protocols for filing complaints with the Public Prosecutor's Office and provides training for professional leaders. Recent enforcement actions have already identified unauthorized practices in areas such as Lanús Este.

In a separate public health initiative, the municipality of Tigre continues its 'Sonríe Tigre' program, providing dental care to schools in the Delta region. In collaboration with the University of Buenos Aires (UBA) Faculty of Dentistry, the program offers check-ups, cavity treatments, and fluoride applications. Local officials noted that the program's preventative approach has successfully reduced the prevalence of cavities among students in the area.
