Buenos Aires International Theater Festival begins September 9
The Buenos Aires International Theater Festival (FIBA) is scheduled to take place from September 9 to 20. The event will feature a diverse program including theater, dance, circus, and performance art from artists across multiple continents.
The festival opening will feature “Dorian,” a production by the late Robert Wilson. This work is a reinterpretation of Oscar Wilde’s “The Picture of Dorian Gray,” based on a text by Darryl Pinckney. The production is a collaboration between the Kaunas State Drama Theatre in Lithuania and the Schauspielhaus Theater in Düsseldorf.
Directed by Federico Irazábal since 2016, the festival aims to explore themes of memory, political violence, and contemporary creation through a mix of new premieres and archival materials.
