Buenos Aires launches major health facility upgrades in Palermo and Flores

The City of Buenos Aires is advancing two large health infrastructure projects. In the Palermo district, the Ministry of Health is constructing the five‑level Centro de Diagnóstico Porteño (CEMAR 4). The new centre will house more than 25 outpatient consultorios, a high‑complexity imaging suite with ultrasound, X‑ray and densitometry, a dental radiology unit, a pharmacy and a Day Centre for daily patient care. The aim is to decentralise hospital services and provide neighbourhood‑level diagnostic and specialist access.

Meanwhile, in the Flores neighbourhood, a public tender has been approved to build a new building for Hospital General de Agudos Dr. Teodoro Álvarez and remodel pavilions C and D. The project, budgeted at over 18.3 billion Argentine pesos, will add 86 outpatient consultorios, practice rooms, vaccination boxes, mental‑health facilities and a link to the imaging service, with a total construction area of about 7 800 m². The works are scheduled for 450 days using an electronic contracting system. Both projects are part of the city’s strategy to strengthen primary and secondary care and reduce pressure on central hospitals.
