Buenos Aires legislators demand reports on Barrio Mitre operations

A group of a dozen legislators in Buenos Aires has submitted a formal request for information regarding security and public space control operations conducted in the Barrio Mitre neighborhood of Saavedra. The operations took place on August 27, September 1, and September 9.

Led by legislator Victoria Freire, the request demands that the Buenos Aires City Government provide official data within 30 days. The legislators are seeking clarification on the legal, judicial, and administrative frameworks used during these interventions. Specifically, they wish to know if there were prior judicial orders or if the actions were administrative decisions made by the Ministry of Security or the Ministry of Public Space and Urban Hygiene.

The inquiry also asks for the specific objectives of each operation, the instructions given to agents, and the coordination between government agencies. Additionally, the legislators requested details on the personnel involved, including the number of City Police officers and urban control agents, as well as an inventory of resources used, such as vehicles, drones, and helicopters.
