Buenos Aires legislature recognizes hockey event and updates turf laws
The Buenos Aires Provincial Chamber of Deputies has declared the 37th National Mini Hockey Meeting a matter of legislative interest. Organized by Club Independiente, the event features delegations from across the country and focuses on youth sports development and social integration through friendly matches.
In a separate legislative action, the Chamber of Deputies sanctioned modifications to the provincial turf law. The new regulations officially recognize trotting races and declare the breeding of the American Trotter horse to be of provincial interest. The law establishes official trotting hippodromes in Pehuajó, Hurlingham, Navarro, Chivilcoy, and Lincoln, subject to authorization requirements.
The updated framework includes provisions for equine registration, anti-doping controls, and betting system regulations. It also grants provincial and municipal authorities the power to collect taxes and unify operational procedures. The legislation aims to increase transparency, prevent problematic gambling, protect minors, and restrict unauthorized digital betting platforms.
