Buenos Aires officials propose online gambling regulation law

Clara Bozzano, a councilwoman from Fuerza Patria, has endorsed the “Régimen Integral de Prevención y Regulación de las Apuestas en Línea” (Comprehensive Regime for the Prevention and Regulation of Online Gambling) project in Buenos Aires province. The legislative initiative, originally presented by deputies Micaela Olivetto and Facundo Tignanelli, aims to provide a comprehensive state response to gambling addiction and strengthen protections for children and adolescents.

The proposed law seeks to prioritize public health and rights over the economic interests of gambling companies through prevention, regulation, and control tools. A key component of the project involves the creation of two funds, including a Provincial Fund for Mental Health Care and Cyber-gambling Attention. Additionally, the initiative proposes that local clubs, community centers, and cultural organizations could receive benefits to support their role in community life and gambling prevention.
