Buenos Aires officials receive first new subway cars in China

Officials from Buenos Aires, including Finance Minister Gustavo Arengo and Subterráneos de Buenos Aires (Sbasau) President Javier Ibáñez, visited the CRRC factory in China to receive the first of several new subway train formations. The city has acquired a total of 224 new cars to modernize its transit network.

Fifty of these cars are designated for lines A and C, while 174 will be used to completely renew the fleet for line B. The first two formations are expected to arrive in Argentina in January, with static and dynamic testing to follow before they begin regular service in April.

The new Serie 500 trains will feature upgrades in safety, accessibility, and passenger comfort. Key improvements include air conditioning, four security cameras per car, LED screens for station information, and non-slip fiber seats. To enhance accessibility, the cars will include dedicated spaces for passengers with reduced mobility, including wheelchair sections, ischial supports, and Braille signage near the doors.
