Buenos Aires police capture burglary suspects in Avellaneda and detain municipal official in Castelar drug raid

In the city of Avellaneda, Argentine police arrested two men suspected of a violent home robbery that took place on 21 January. The assailants forced entry at gunpoint, bound the 50‑year‑old victim, and stole cash and valuable jewelry. Investigators pieced together CCTV footage and mobile‑phone data to identify the perpetrators, seized stolen items and tactical gloves during simultaneous raids, and continue to search for a third suspect.

Separately, federal agents in Castelar (part of Morón) executed eight raids targeting alleged drug‑distribution sites. Officers seized 1,717 kg of cocaine, 241 g of marijuana, firearms, cash, scales and other evidence, and detained one individual. A municipal official, Luna Soyai Ortigoza, director of the local Gender and Diversity department, was named in a capture order along with another suspect. The operations were coordinated by the Department of Federal Investigations and local judicial authorities.
