Buenos Aires police officer shot stray dog in Floresta precinct
A City Police officer has been removed from duty and faces a criminal investigation after shooting a stray dog at the Comunal 10 police station in the Floresta neighborhood of Buenos Aires. The dog, known as Manchita, was a well-known local stray that had been sheltered and fed by officers at the precinct to protect it from the cold.
The officer, identified in social media posts as Tomás Seco (badge number 36048), reportedly claimed he shot the animal because it attempted to bite him. The City Ministry of Security described the incident as “unjustifiable.”
Local residents, who had previously helped care for the dog, organized protests in front of the station to demand justice. The case is currently being investigated by the prosecutor's office and Internal Affairs.
