Buenos Aires private security sector faces mass job risks
A labor dispute within the Buenos Aires Ministry of Security has paralyzed the Provincial Directorate for Private Security Management for over ten days. The strike, involving workers from the Association of State Workers (ATE), has halted essential administrative processes required for the sector to operate legally.
Key affected procedures include the renewal of security personnel credentials, company licensing, training course accreditation, and the issuance of documentation necessary for managing firearm permits through RENAR.
Industry warnings suggest that if the conflict is not resolved shortly, more than 60,000 security guards could lose their jobs. Some companies have already begun suspending or licensing personnel. The disruption threatens security services for banks, industries, commercial businesses, and private residential areas.
