Buenos Aires reaches 6% wage increase agreement with most teacher unions
The Government of Buenos Aires has reached a salary agreement with the majority of provincial teacher and state unions, establishing a 6% increase divided into two stages. The measure includes a 3% raise in October and another 3% in November, both calculated based on September salaries.
While major unions such as SUTEBA, SADOP, and AMET have accepted the offer, the Federación de Educadores Bonaerenses (FEB) rejected the proposal, calling it insufficient to offset the loss of purchasing power. Consequently, the FEB has announced a 48-hour strike across the province. Other dissident groups, including the Multicolor list of SUTEBA and the Asociación de Maestros de la Provincia de Buenos Aires, have also scheduled protests and strikes.
The agreement also covers administrative improvements, such as the implementation of a Digital Bulletin, updates to the secondary school academic regime, and the expansion of parental leave. Negotiations with other sectors, including healthcare and judicial workers, remain ongoing.
