Buenos Aires province boosts health procurement as Remediar program cuts

The Buenos Aires provincial health ministry approved a 1.126 billion‑peso tender for disposable medical supplies to equip the public health network. The decree (1427/2026) allocated contracts to ten firms and granted the ministry flexibility to adjust the budget for urgent needs.

In the municipality of Carlos Casares, local officials received a shipment of provincial "Medicamentos Bonaerenses" drugs for patients without social security, covering hypertension, dyslipidemia and benign prostatic hyperplasia. The delivery was presented as a key measure to offset the reduced deliveries from the national Remediar program.

Provincial councilor Florencia Di Pizio lodged a resolution with the national Health Ministry demanding detailed information on the drastic cut to the Remediar program, which she says reduced the covered product list from about 80 items to three. She highlighted that the program serves roughly 19‑20 million Argentines and noted that the province has invested more than 7.4 billion pesos in essential medicines and awarded a 17.7 billion‑peso tender this year to compensate for the shortfall.
