Buenos Aires Province discusses energy battery acquisition with China

Carlos Bianco, the Minister of Government for the Province of Buenos Aires, met with Wang Xiaoxu, a minister counselor at the Chinese Embassy, to discuss energy and commercial cooperation. A primary focus of the meeting was the province's recent tender to acquire energy storage batteries from Huawei to strengthen the regional electrical system.

Executed by Buenos Aires Energía S.A. (BAESA), the Provincial Battery Energy Storage Program aims to improve service reliability and quality during high-temperature periods. The project will install systems in strategic locations, including Mar del Tuyú, Carmen de Areco, Arrecifes, and Capitán Sarmiento, to mitigate service difficulties caused by seasonal demand spikes. This initiative replaces the previous ‘Plan Verano,’ which relied on temporary mobile generation units.

A delegation led by Energy Undersecretary Gastón Ghioni is scheduled to visit Huawei's facilities in China to conduct technical tests on the equipment. Discussions also touched upon solar energy projects and electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Additionally, ten companies from Buenos Aires province are set to participate in the China International Import Expo (CIIE) in Shanghai this November.
