Buenos Aires and Entre Ríos expand school feeding services with new funding and procurement system

The Province of Buenos Aires allocated 107.3 million pesos for kitchen equipment and appliances to upgrade school cafeterias in Junín, serving about 19,800 students. The same government announced a 15 % increase in investment for the provincial School Food Service (SAE) and revised meal allowances, with the new rates taking effect from August 2026.

In the neighboring Province of Entre Ríos, officials will replace the decentralized card‑based purchasing model with a centralized procurement system for 996 school breakfast and snack programs. The change aims to standardise nutritional quality, improve controls and reduce administrative burdens for teachers and school directors.

Meanwhile, school food providers in Concordia (Entre Ríos) report pending provincial payments ranging from 40 million to 100 million pesos, highlighting cash‑flow challenges as the new system is rolled out.
