Buenos Aires Province launches Knowledge Economy Council
The Province of Buenos Aires has launched the Provincial Council of the Knowledge Economy (COPEC), a new body designed to coordinate policies regarding innovation, technological development, and job creation. The council aims to establish a permanent space for dialogue between the state, private companies, universities, labor unions, and startups to build a long-term strategic agenda for research and talent formation.
Escobar Mayor Ariel Sujarchuk will preside over the council. During the presentation, Governor Axel Kicillof criticized the national administration of Javier Milei, accusing the federal government of dismantling productive capacities and defunding the national scientific and technological systems. Kicillof argued that while Argentina possesses the necessary human and scientific resources to lead in technological shifts, the current national policy of reducing the state's role threatens this potential.
