Buenos Aires Province secures 7% salary hike for teachers, state staff
The government of Buenos Aires Province, led by Governor Axel Kicillof, reached a collective bargaining agreement with the majority of teachers' unions and the public‑sector union representing workers under Law 10430. The deal grants a 7 % wage increase applied in two installments – 5 % in July and 2 % in August – calculated on June salaries.
Beyond the salary raise, the agreement adds an amendment to the parity pact on prevention, eradication, protection and repair of violence and harassment against school staff, establishes a dedicated ad‑hoc Mesa within the Mixed Jurisdictional Commission on Health and Safety, and launches the “Cuidemos a quienes enseñan” campaign with educational and preventive materials. For state employees, it includes measures such as permanent plant status for new hires (2024‑2025) and the creation of technical tables to advance collective agreements and administrative career issues. The accord is set to remain in force until a new round of negotiations scheduled for September.
The agreement was endorsed by the provincial Economy Minister Pablo López and the Labour Minister Walter Correa, who highlighted its symbolic and practical value for public‑sector workers.
