Buenos Aires province reports vaccination rates below national average
Data from the newly launched National Vaccine Coverage and Distribution Map released by the Ministry of Health shows that the province of Buenos Aires has vaccination rates below the national average for several key doses in 2026.
The most significant gaps are observed in boosters for 5-year-olds and vaccines for 11-year-olds. For the DPT booster at age 5, the national coverage is 34.2%, while Buenos Aires reports only 16.1%, an 18.1 percentage point difference. At age 11, the dTpa vaccine coverage is 35.5% nationally compared to 22.2% in the province, and meningococcal vaccine coverage is 34.9% nationally versus 20.8% in Buenos Aires.
Significant disparities also exist for the HPV vaccine in females, with a national average of 36.4% compared to 23.7% in Buenos Aires. In contrast, the gap is considerably smaller for vaccines administered during the first months of life, such as the BCG vaccine.
