Buenos Aires Province offers 7% salary rise to teachers and state workers

The government of Buenos Aires Province presented a new collective‑bargaining proposal that raises salaries by a total of 7%, to be paid in two installments – 5% in July and 2% in August – based on June 2026 payrolls. The offer applies to public‑school teachers and to provincial civil servants covered by Law 10.430.

In addition to the wage increase, the agreement adds an adenda to the Parity Agreement on Prevention, Eradication, Protection and Repair of violence and harassment against teachers. It creates a permanent ad‑hoc board within the Mixed Jurisdictional Commission for Health and Safety to handle serious or complex cases, and launches a public campaign “Cuidemos a quienes enseñan” with informational materials, training and community‑family cooperation initiatives.

The province also pledged to reopen negotiations in September to review inflation and possible further adjustments. Union federations such as the Frente de Unidad Docente Bonaerense, FEB, SUTEBA and the Association of State Workers (ATE) have taken the proposal to their bases for approval, with several indicating they may accept the terms after an earlier 2.5% offer was rejected.

The proposal reflects the provincial administration’s effort to address a “severe fiscal asphyxiation” blamed on national economic policies while maintaining public‑sector wage growth and enhanced protections for educators.
