Buenos Aires residents show majority support for Single Paper Ballot
A survey conducted by the consultancy Isonomía in April 2026 indicates that 64% of residents in the province of Buenos Aires support the implementation of the Single Paper Ballot (Boleta Única de Papel) for upcoming provincial elections. The study, which sampled 1,200 cases with a margin of error of ±2.83%, shows that 46% are totally in agreement and 18% are quite in agreement with the change.
Respondents highlighted several perceived benefits of the system, including the ability to view all options on a single ballot, which 67% considered very or quite important to prevent missing options at polling stations. Additionally, 65% valued the potential for cost savings and 61% noted its sustainability benefits.
Proponents of the reform are using these results to advocate for legislative discussions throughout 2026, aiming for the adoption of the system for the 2027 local elections.
