Buenos Aires school health program reaches 36,000 students

The ‘Salud Escolar Bonaerense’ program, a joint initiative by the Ministry of Health and the General Directorate of Culture and Education of the Province of Buenos Aires, has completed its first year of implementation. The program has visited 1,703 schools, including 505 rural institutions, serving over 36,000 students and administering more than 16,000 vaccines.

Data from the program indicates that one in four first-grade students has received a health consultation through the initiative. In 2026 alone, 20,431 first-grade students were evaluated, with 44.38% requiring medical follow-ups. Specific needs identified include dental care (32%), ophthalmology (22.2%), vaccination completion (18.8%), and nutrition services (8.8%). The program works alongside 99 municipalities to monitor the growth and development of children and adolescents while promoting healthy habits.
