Buenos Aires secures private investment to upgrade 16 parks and plazas

The City of Buenos Aires has secured private investment to upgrade 16 parks and plazas, introducing new services such as cafés, public restrooms, bicycle spaces, Wi-Fi connectivity, and improved lighting. The initiative aims to enhance public spaces without incurring costs for the city government or its residents.

Mayor Jorge Macri stated that 16 café concessions have already been awarded. The project was formalized through the General Directorate of Concessions and Permits following an evaluation process. Economic Development Minister Hernán Lombardi noted that the partnership between the state and the private sector is intended to make parks safer and more comfortable while promoting local employment.

The concessions will last for five years. A monthly base fee, determined by Banco Ciudad, will be paid once the committed investment has been amortized. The affected green spaces include locations in Paternal, Chacarita, Belgrano, Palermo, Villa Soldati, Barracas, Puerto Madero, Recoleta, and more.
