Buenos Aires sees 50% surge in Chinese tourism via new flight routes

Tourism from China to Buenos Aires has increased by more than 50 percent following the launch of a China Eastern Airlines route connecting Shanghai and Buenos Aires via Auckland, New Zealand. Valentín Díaz Gilligan, president of the Buenos Aires Tourism Board, noted that the increased connectivity is significantly shifting tourism prospects. The airline plans to expand its current two weekly frequencies to four weekly frequencies starting in December.

To support growing international connectivity, the Government of the City of Buenos Aires has launched the ‘Buenos Aires te da la Bienvenida’ program. This initiative celebrates new and expanded flight routes through cultural and gastronomic events. Recent and upcoming highlights include increased frequencies for Air France on the Buenos Aires-Paris route, the return of EL AL on the Tel Aviv-Buenos Aires route in late November, and the expansion of China Eastern Airlines operations.
