Buenos Aires Senate advances bill to prioritize GNC for essential services
The Buenos Aires Provincial Senate has forwarded a bill to the Chamber of Deputies aimed at prioritizing Compressed Natural Gas (GNC) supplies for essential services. The initiative, proposed by Senator Marcelo Leguizamón, seeks to ensure continuous fuel availability for critical vehicles.
Under the proposal, priority access and rapid-loading lanes would be established at service stations for vehicles including public and private ambulances, state and volunteer fire departments, and provincial security forces. The bill also extends these protections to registered school transport, public passenger buses, taxis, and authorized private hire vehicles (remises).
To facilitate identification, covered units would be required to display official stickers or decals. Once regulated, service stations would have 90 days to implement preferential lanes and visible signage. Leguizamón stated the measure is intended to protect life and safety by ensuring immediate response capabilities for emergency services.
