Buenos Aires Senate approves bill to protect Chapadmalal tourism complex

The Buenos Aires Provincial Senate has granted partial approval to a bill aimed at preserving the Chapadmalal Tourist Unit as a destination for social tourism. The project, introduced by Senator Fernanda Raverta, seeks to ensure the province recovers the ownership and administration of the historic complex to protect it from potential privatization or private exploitation by the national government.

The legislation instructs the State Attorney to pursue necessary legal actions and injunctions to achieve the restitution or retrocession of the properties. The bill emphasizes that the complex must remain exclusively dedicated to social tourism, maintaining its original purpose of providing affordable access to leisure for workers and families.

Following this approval in the Upper House, the initiative will now move to the Buenos Aires Chamber of Deputies for further legislative processing.
