Buenos Aires Line A subway strike announced for Tuesday

The Asociación Gremial de Trabajadores del Subterráneo y Premetro (AGTSyP) has announced a strike affecting Buenos Aires subway Line A on Tuesday, October 6, 2026. The service disruption is scheduled to begin at 19:00 and continue until the end of the day.

The labor action is a response to what the union describes as “indebted and illegal” wage deductions implemented by the operating company, Emova. Workers claim that the company has been arbitrarily deducting pay from employees who fulfilled their full monthly shifts. The union has demanded an immediate cessation of these deductions and the reimbursement of all withheld amounts.

Emova has contested these claims, stating that the deductions correspond to days not worked according to attendance records. The company noted that the dispute involves approximately 20 workers, representing less than 0.5% of its 4,700-person workforce. Emova indicated it is in discussions with the City of Buenos Aires Labor Secretariat to resolve the conflict and avoid service interruptions.
