Buenos Aires teachers push for salary raise as mid‑year bonus confirmed

Teachers' unions in Argentina's Buenos Aires Province met with the provincial government of Axel Kicillof but left the negotiations without a concrete salary‑increase offer. The Frente de Unidad Docente Bonaerense (FUDB), comprising AMET, FEB, SADOP, SUTEBA, UDOCBA and other bodies, demanded an urgent recomposition of wages to keep pace with inflation and called for the implementation of protection measures for educators.

The meeting, held at the provincial Ministry of Labor, also addressed broader issues such as digital‑time disconnection, licensing problems, IOMA benefits, and the protection of the provincial pension system. While no raise was presented, the government confirmed that the mid‑year salary complement (SAC or “aguinaldo”) for June 2026 will be paid on schedule, calculated at 50 % of the highest monthly salary earned in the semester.

Negotiations are set to continue in the coming days, with unions hoping a formal salary proposal will be offered before the payroll liquidation deadline.
